Life
« Spouse » means the life insured's legal spouse or common-law spouse. A legal spouse means the person lawfully married to the life insured according to applicable provincial legislation. A common-law spouse means a person who is living with the life insured in a common-law relationship.
A common-law relationship is considered to exist when two persons have lived together in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 months or until the earlier of 12 months or the birth or adoption of a child of the relationship.
If your spouse is covered, he or she must meet spousal definition in order to renew the coverage. Please advise us of any changes regarding your spousal status.
« Dependent child » means an unmarried natural, adopted or step-child of the life insured or the life insured's spouse who is at least 14 days of life.
A child age 22 or over must be a full-time student under age 25.
A child of the life insured's spouse is not insurable unless:
A child is considered a full-time student if he has been in registered attendance at an elementary school, high school, university or similar education institution for 15 hours a week or more sometime in the last 6 months.
When subscribe, children life insurance coverage provides a $10,000 protection for each of your children. In order to renew the coverage each year, your child must meet the definition of dependent child. Please advise us should you wish to cancel this benefit.
